Get the Look: Julie Bowen on Busy Tonight

More Modern Family episodes come back this Wednesday, so I thought I’d throw it back to doing Julie Bowen’s makeup on Busy Tonight!! For Julie I focused on two main things: creating a long-lasting look because she’d be shooting for a while (those lights get hot!), and just bringing out the natural beauty she already has! I stuck to nudes and pinks and took advantage of some cool new products (used a ton of Cover FX, which you can buy with discount code JAMIEMAKEUP, and Julie loved the Buxom Lip Powder I used so much that she took it from me).

In this video, I took it to the next level because mama’s eyes were feeling a little tired…just kidding, a LOT tired. Filmed this during the kids’ winter break. You get it. I added more eye liner using my faves Troy Surratt and Stila, because sometimes that just does the trick. As I like to say, a little makeup (in the right place) goes a long way!

What other looks do you want to see a video for? Leave a comment on this YouTube vid to let me know! And as always, sign up for my crew to get cool giveawayssssss!!!

  1. First, we filled in the brows with Thrive Causemetics Infinity Waterproof Eyebrow Liner in Audrey. I draw a short line in the center end of the brow, then fill in toward the other end.

  2. Next, we used Make Up For Ever Aqua Matic Waterproof Glide-On Eye Shadow in ME 80 as a base for the eyelid.

  3. On top of the pinkish eye shadow base, I spread on the gorgeous golden Noonsuite. This creates a sort of rose gold look! I used the Smith and Cult Book of Eyes palette. Stunnnnnnning.

  4. I did a subtle eyeliner on both the bottom and top of Julie’s eye using Chanel #66 in Brun-Cuivre (how the heck do ya say that?). It’s like a shimmery brown. Only a little though!

  5. Curl those lashes by holding them down with an eyelash curler (I use my ultimate fave Troy Surratt Relevée Lash Curler) for TEN WHOLE SECONDS. Don’t do that pumping thing a lot of people do…it doesn’t work as well.

  6. I love me some Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara. I applied that to Julie’s top and bottom lashes, and I wiggled to make sure I separate the lashes too. Make sure you get in at the very base of the lash!

  7. You can never have too much hydration, so at this point I hydrated the lips with Chanel Hydra Beauty Nourishing Lip Care.

  8. For a primer, I used the new CoverFX Gripping Primer. It has a jelly texture that’s super nice. I pat it all over the face so that it will not only firm the skin, but grip the foundation and make makeup last much longer. In Julie’s case, she was going to have a long day on the set of Busy Tonight, and with all that heavy lighting, she needed an amazing primer. This one works…use my code JAMIEMAKEUP for a discount!

  9. Then I used my Jenny Patikin All-Over Face Brush to apply the Cover FX Power Play Foundation all over the face. Don’t forget the ears (and to use my code JAMIEMAKEUP if you buy it!)

  10. I put some Cover FX Perfect Setting Powder on my T-zone, and then a little bit on my cheeks where blush would go. (I know, I’m a broken record, but I’ve got a code for this JAMIEMAKEUP 😏 I just wanna help you save money!!!)

  11. For a little highlight, I put on MAC Pro Expansions Cream Colour Base in Hush.

  12. I put a little bit more setting powder on top of that.

  13. Then, I used the MAC blush in Whole Lotta Love. 😍😍😍

  14. I did some light contouring with bronzer, using the Tarte Park Avenue Princess palette.

  15. Noooow for Julie we didn’t do this, but in my video I thought my tired eyes needed a pick me up. I used Troy Surratt Auto-Graphique Eyeliner on the top of my lids, then used Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Liner for a little cateye.

  16. For Julie’s lips, I used a Buxom Pillowpout Creamy Plumping Lip Powder. The applicator is a felt tip, and it’s actually super cool! I would tell you the color, but I gave it to Julie!!! Whoops.

  17. Because I gave the Buxom lip away, on my look I used Wu-Tang x Milk’s Makeup Lip Color in Flow.

I hope you love the look as much as I love Julie Bowen!!!
