Get the (Sensitive Skin) Look: Zosia Mamet

FullSizeRender-2.jpeg

So I learned something new this week! Apparently titanium dioxide can cause irritation, and it’s in a ton of makeup products we use all the time.

Last week I worked with Zosia Mamet (she’s amazing and was so so funny on Girls!!). Because of her sensitivity to titanium dioxide, we had to make sure all the products fell in line with what worked for her skin. If titanium dioxide was at the beginning of a product’s ingredient list, we couldn’t use it. If it was on the bottom of the list, or if it said it “contained traces” of it, then it was actually fine.

This is for the peeps with sensitive skin who wanna get the look too!!

MORE SCIENCE STUFF ABOUT TITANIUM DIOXIDE

What the heck is Titanium Dioxide? It’s a natural mineral found in the earth, and it’s in a lot of makeup as pigment or brightener. Interestingly enough, it helps make product pigments more opaque. It’s mostly used in any powder cosmetic products - pressed powder, eyeshadows, blush. It also has a UV filter, so you’ll find it in most sunscreens too!

Hope this helps you if you have sensitive skin!! Let me know (email info@jamiemakeup.com) if you have any questions about products, ingredients, skincare, or specific skin issues you want to learn how to work around. Happy to do a blog post for ya!!
